Cross Country Ski Trails
Welcome to Wild Eagle Lodge, where you’re within minutes of an abundance of cross-country ski trails. Vilas County’s designated cross-country ski trails are among the best in the Midwest. The trails are a mix public forest trails and service group maintained trails. Ski your way through a variety of timber types including oak, pine, aspen, and birch. You’ll be able to witness the variety of opportunities provided within the National Forest, seeing that most of the county’s winter trails are hiking and bicycling trails during spring, summer, and fall. You may also be able to catch a glimpse of some of the wildlife in the Eagle River area, as many trails are located in designated watchable wildlife areas. You’ll find trails throughout the area groomed for both skating and classic-style cross-country skiing. The terrain varies anywhere from mostly level to hilly, and trail difficulty and trail lengths are marked.
